Abstract: Photosynthesis is the most important chemical reaction on earth. Though photosynthesis in plant has been extensively studied, little attention has been paid to the photosynthetic function of plant leaves and its’ regulation in three-dimensional level. There are obvious three-dimensional characteristics in leaf structure, photosynthetic components, light transmission, and light absorption in leaves, which may greatly affect the CO2 transport inside leaves, electron transport and carbon assimilation in various mesophyll cells. Unavoidably, the photosynthetic function and its’ regulation in leaves may show complex three-dimensional characteristics. Consequently, the analysis of leaf photosynthetic characteristics from the three-dimensional perspective will help us understand the mechanism of photosynthesis and provide a theoretical support to improve photosynthetic efficiency in plants.
