Abstract: This paper reviews the progress in research on seed proteins and proteomes in relation to seed development and formation, dormancy and germination, seed preservation and seed vigor, and the interaction between seeds and the environment. The application of proteomics in seed research and the achievements are described. It can be expected that researches on seed biology will progress from gene level to integrative level, focusing on the interaction between environmental factors and seed proteins, and adopting the proteomic approach to reveal the function of proteins and the life mechanism of seeds.
