Abstract: The comparative anatomy of the pinnae of six species,namely, Cycas ferruginea, C. miquelii, C. szechuanensis，C. hainanensis，C. fairylakea and C. guizhouensis in China, was studied. The results indicate that C. ferruginea differs obviously from C.miquelii in hypodermal sclerenchymatous cells, crystal cells among the spongy cells, raised midrib region,the morphology of leaf margin and phloem, and absence or presence of secretory canal.C. szechuanensis is very similar to  C. hainanensis and C.fairylakea, and the latter two are more close to each other. C.guizhouensis differs from C. szechuanensis，C. hainanensis and C. fairylakea in raised midrib region, the morphology of leaf margin and phloem. The view that C. ferruginea and C.miquelii are independent species is supported in this paper. The differences between C. hainanensis and C. fairylakea scarcely exist. C. szechuanensis is closed to C. hainanensis and C. fairylakea. C. guizhouensis is distant from the other species.
