Plant Chimeras and Application in the Breeding of the Ornamental Plant

Abstract: The plant chimera contains at least 2 different genotypes in the shoot apex of plants and plays an important role in the ornamental plant market in Europe. This review of the literature and investigations at the horticultural science institute of Humboldt University of Berlin covers the definition, theory of formation, important characteristics, classification and function of the plant chimera and its application in the breeding of ornamental plants.
