Abstract: The differential display technique was used to study gene expression of Puccinellia tenuiflora treated with NaHCO3. Seven differentially expressed gene segments were obtained through Reverse Northern detection. Among them, six segments were induced and one was inhibited by NaHCO3. A homologous analysis revealed that one of the six NaHCO3-induced gene segments was homologous to the genes encoding calcium-dependent protein kinases (CDPKs); the other five might be new sequences. The NaHCO3-inhibited gene segment was homologous to a putative adaptor protein-encoding gene. This research provided basic information for further study of the mechanism on salt resistance in P. tenuiflora.
