Abstract: A herbicide resistance gene bar was transferred into immature embryos of three wheat cultivars by biolistics. As a result,7 transformed plants were obtained from a total 902 bombardment embryos with the transformation frequency of 0.45~1.2% and transformation time was reduced to 3 months or so. PCR and PCR_Southern blot analysis suggested that the foreign genebar had been transferred into wheat plants. The herbicide_resistance test indicated that four plants were totally resistant to PPT and the other three were partially resistant. It suggested that bar gene was expressed in wheat plants.
