Abstract: In recent years, people are paying more and more attention to the research of calcium signals, which involves the production, transduction and targets of calcium signals. The message transmission of many procedures for plant growth and development involves reactions to internal and external stimulation. The production and transduction of calcium signals are realized through the change of calcium concentration in cytoplasm. Some current progress is reviewed in this paper, which involves the measure of free calcium concentration in cytoplasm, spatio-temporal variety of calcium signals and the targets of calcium signals such as CaM, Ca2+_dependent protein kinase. In addition, the prospects of calcium signals research and some useful techniques are also discussed.
