First Discovery of a Genus Scotoxylon from China

Abstract: A fossil wood, genus Scotoxylon was first discoved from the Yanging district of Beijing city in China. It is represented by a new species Scotoxylon yanqingense from the Houcheng Formation of Upper Jurassic. This genus is characterised by the secondary wood with Protojuniperoxylon type, primary xylem bearing endarch and by the pith consisting of homogeneous parenchyma cells.
