Abstract: Morphological features of genus Sequoia, Metasequoia, Taxodium and Gtyptostrobus are similar. It is more difficult to distinguish the fossil plants for short of enough morphological features. The paper offered some taxonomic criteria by systematically comparing the four genuses in traits of shoots, leaves, pistillate and staminate cones.
