Abstract: Stratigraphic sequences of a Devonian section in Miliangshan, Wuhan district of Hubei Province and Devonian plants collected from this section are introduced in this paper. The stratum is composed of quartzitic sandstone in the lower part of the section and mudstone in the upper part in lithology. This stratum was named as Luojia Quartz-sandstone, Luojia Group, Wutong Group or Wutong Formation. The new lithostratic names for this stratum are Yuntaguan Formation for the lower part of this section and Huangjiadeng Formation for the upper part of this section. Leptophloem rhombicum, Protopteridophyton devonicum Li et Hsue 1987, Chamaedendron multisporangiatum Schweitzer et Li 1996, Sphinxia wuhania Li, Hilton et Hemsley 1997 and abundant kinds of spores as well as Hubeiscopio gracilitarus Walossek, Li et Brauckmann 1990 were collected from the lower part of the section. Based on these fossils, it is early Late Devonian in age. Leptophloem rhombicum, Cyclostigma kiltorkense, Sublepidodendron wusihense, Sphenophyllum sp. were found from the upper part of this section and it is late Late Devonian in age. In the area of upper river of Yangtse, Yuntaguan Formation is late Midle Devonian and Huangjiadeng Formation is early Late Devonian in ages. But in the area of middle river of Yangtse, Yuntaguan Formation is early Late Devonian and Huangjiadeng Formation is late Late Devonia in ages. So both Yuntaguan Formation and Huangjiadeng Formation are time-transgressive.
