Abstract: Sugar has a great influence on plant tissue culture. So far, fifty kinds of sugar have been used in plant tissue culture. In somatic culture, sucrose has been a standard carbon source, however other kinds of sugar such as glucose, maltose and sorbitol have a certain influence on in vitro tissue culture. In anther culture, sucrose is better, but more attention should be paid to maltose which has a positive effect in anther culture.
