Abstract: Soaking the seeds with rare earth elements can stimulate NO3- uptake and promote nitrate reductase activity of wheat seedlings. These effects were related to the concentrations of rare earth elements, generally, low concentrations have stimulative functions and high ones inhibitive. Rare earth elements can also promote NO3- assimilation in wheat seedlings, nitrate nitrogen in wheat shoots was decreased and amino nitrogen increased. It is suggested that rare earth elements stimulate the process nitrogen mataholism in wheat seedlings.
