Abstract: The chromosome numbers of three species of the Genus Gynostemma from Shanxi Province are reported as follows: 1.G. pentaphyllum is diploid 2n =2x=22; 2. G. longipes is diploid 2n=2x=22; 3. G..cardiospermum is hexaploid 2n=6x= 66. The last two species are endemic species of China, their chromosome numbers are reported for the first time. These results provide the scientific basis for classi-fying and utilizing the plants of the Genus Gynostemma.
