Abstract: The factors affecting the proliferation of two cultivars in Cymbidium ensifolium were studied. The rhizome proliferaties in five solid and liquid media used in the experiment shows that the rate of increasing of proliferation is different. In liquid medium the proliferation of rhizome is faster than that in agar medium. The multiplication of rhizome can be initiated in both liquid and agar media free from hormones and it can be promoted in medium containing hormones. The effects of hormone are not only on the increasing of the number of rhizomes but also on the differentiation of shoots from rhizome. The approproate conccntration of hormone for increasing rhizome and differentiation of shoots varies with species. The MS medium supplemented with BA 0.5 ppm and NAA 0.5 ppm is suitable for cultivar SI JI Len. However, the combination of BA 1 ppm and NAA 1 ppm with MS is suitable for cultivar Susin Leo.
