Abstract: This is a brief account on the classification and nomenclature of fossil dispersed cuticles developed by previous paleobotanists. Among them, the two schemes of MENEH’s and Roselt and Schneider’s are introduced in detail. Based up on their work, authors suggest that the existence or not of stomata; the configurations of stomatal complex and the forms of anticlinal walls of epidermal cells can be considered as marks for higher taxa, such as Anteturma, Turma and Subturma, of the artifical classification of fossil dispersed cuticules.
