Brassica rapa plants, including B. rapa subsp. pekinensis, B. rapa subsp. chinensis, B. rapa subsp. rapa and so on, serve as vegetables, oil crops, and fodder. They are constantly suffering from viral diseases, among which turnip mosaic virus (TuMV) is the primary pathogen. In recent years, some research progress has been made in genetic analysis, mapping, cloning, and molecular mechanism elucidation of TuMV resistance genes, which lay the foundation for breeding disease-resistant and high-quality new varieties. We reviewed the inheritance analysis, resistance genes and molecular markers, bioinformatics, omics analysis, and the application of genetic engineering technology involved in TuMV resistance. We also made suggestions for future work.
