Abstract

Combining tissue culture with radiation mutation techniques, we investigated the radiosensitivity of green globular bodies (GGB) of Matteuccia struthiopteris by exposing it to various doses of 60Coγ radiation. The significant linearity between GGB survival and doses of 60Coγ could be expressed as y=–0.797x+104.719, LD50=69 Gy. The multiplication and differentiation of GGB was decreased and the differentiation period was prolonged with increasing radiation doses. Phenotypic damage such as dark color, death of single green bodies, and cellular damage such as micronuclei, broken nuclei and decrease of embryonic cell after irradiation.
