Abstract: Arsenic contamination has become a global environmental problem, especially in Southeast Asia, and poses a serious threat to agricultural production, the environment and human health. Contaminated food crops are one of the main ways for humans to absorb arsenic. Revealing the physiological and molecular mechanisms of arsenic uptake, transport and storage in plants and elucidating the key mechanisms involved in the regulation of arsenic hyperaccumulation and translocation is of great significance to optimize phytoremediation and control the migration of arsenic in the food chain. This paper reviews recent research progress related to arsenic uptake and metabolism in plants and describes the transporters involved in arsenic trafficking.
