Abstract: Liposomes are layered vesicles composed of phospholipids formed in water under certain conditions. In the development of biomembrane, they are very important as model systems. They can be used for the study of the properties and functions of membrane proteins, the interactions of membrane lipids and membrane proteins, electrochemical properties of membrane, etc. Recently the liposome r econstitution technique has been introduced to the field of botany, used for the study of plant membrane proteins. This review introduces the preparation of liposomes, reconstitution of proteoliposomes and the application of this new technique in the studies of plant biomembrane.
