Abstract: The rapid propagation of Cucumis melo var. reliculatus was studied by using the stem_segment with axillary buds as explants. The results showed that the suitable medium for shoot propagation was MS + BA 0.5~1.0 mg/L + IAA 0.1 mg/L. The optimal condition for rooting was in 1/2 MS supplemented with 0.5 mg/L IAA, and culture in the dark for 3 days and then in the light. The medium for transplanting was the mixture of vermiculite and turfy_soil (1:1). There were no difference between the plantlets and the seedlings from seeds in their characteristics, but the former grew vigorously.
