Abstract: At the begianing of the 20 th century, I.W.Bailey and E.W.Sinnot proposed a novel idea Of the close correlation Of physiognomic characteristics, particularly percentage Of entire species with mean annual temperature. In the late 1970s Jack A.Wolfe investigated the linear correlation of percentage of entire species and mean annual temperature. In 1990s Jack A.Wolfe developed Climate-Leaf Analysis Multivariate Program(CLAMP) which is characteristic of accuracy and precision peftainjng to the estimates of palaeoclimate, palaeoelevation, etc.Relevant problems are discussed and future directions are prospected.
