Abstract: There are 66 species of kiwifruit in the world. 62 species of them are in China and most locate in southwestern and south districts. They are mainly distributed in the mountain areas of China. The kiwifruit used as economic cultivating fruit trees were reviewed in respect of the origins, history of culture and integrated utilizable value, species and distribution, cultivar resources and specific resources, germplasm conservation, pollen morphology, chromosome ploidy, isozyme analysis, and molecular marker of DNA. The research prospects of chinese kiwifruit germplasm are also discussed, that would be useful to the sustainable utilization and cultivar improvement of kiwifruit germplasms.
