Abstract: The chimeric stability of Fittonia albivenis with different proliferation methods was analysed, with assistance from favourable markers of cell lineage. The axillary bud proliferation was appropriate for the multiplication of ornamental chimera plants; the variation rate of cluster-bud proliferation was 21.32%, and the two lineages with red and green color separately were found rearranged in the shoot apical meristem of cluster buds, which might directly induce the appearance of new chimera types. This study offers insights into the production of chimera plantlets via tissue culture and a new method for producing innovative germplasm for plant chimeras.
