Abstract:

Plant sex chromosomes, which evolved from a pair of autosomes, have multiple origins and evolved independently in different dioecious plants, so they are suitable for studying sex chromosome evolution. Previous studies have explored the origins and evolutionary dynamics of plant sex chromosomes. Genetic degeneration, sex determination genes and dosage compensation on plant sex chromosomes are now becoming research hotspots. In recent years, there has been considerable progress in studying plant sex chromosomes and sex determination genes. Here, we give an overview on the origin, evolution and genetic degeneration and dosage compensation of plant sex chromosomes as well as sex determination genes.
